Abstract
We will motivate Venkatesh's conjectures through one of the simplest non-trivial scenarios, namely the case of Bianchi modular forms over an imaginary quadratic field. If time permits, we will also introduce the setting of weight 1 modular forms, which will be explained in the second part of the seminar.
