Computing Bianchi Modular forms with character

Abstract
Whilst trying to check the modularity of abelian varieties of $GL_2$ type over quadratic imaginary fields, one encounters a very big problem with the current software implementations of Bianchi modular forms: there is no way of adding a character to the cuspidal space. In this joint work with Lassina Dembélé, we propose a roadmap to solve the problem which should also improve on the performance of the state of the art implementations.
