Automorphy of the tensor product $GL(2) \times GL(n)$

Resumen

We will explain how to combine automorphy lifting theorems with certain safe chains of congruences to deduce Langlands functoriality for the tensor product $GL(2) \times  GL(n)$, under standard assumptions (such as regularity and irreducibility). This is joint work with Sara Arias de Reyna and Toby Gee, with some group theoretical results kindly supplied by Robert Guralnick at our request.
